After leaning everything from the past 3 videos in the series of StandardX Originals, this was to be my magnum opus. The goal of this video was to go back and remake my original Noid video as that obtained many views over the years and I knew an updated version would help increase subscribers on this new channel. So I got started with a brand new script. I made the decision not to rewatch or reuse and files from the original video as to give me a completely fresh start and outlook on the project.

The script started with the basic sections I wanted to cover. I researched each section independently, this time having a completely separate document for sources. Once the research and sources were gathered, I started writing the script. This workflow and organization led to very minimal time spent revising the script.

The script would also heavily incorporate notes for the video editing phase. The script was also read in sections, with each section saved in a separate file. This minimized the time needed to cut and organize the voiceover during video editing. This allowed me to quickly begin editing the video and stitching together the many clips and images needed.

With the constant change of clips, I wanted to keep viewers engaged with constant motion. This led to the addition of a fluid movement template to be used with the various clips and images. The visual appeal didn’t stop there, since a unique title animation and section introductions were made in Adobe After Effects.

The video was polished, rendered, uploaded and shared. This truly became my magnum opus as the video garnered thousands of views and led to a consistent increase of subscribers to the channel since it’s upload.

Above are the main pieces of motion graphics created for this video in Adobe Illustrator and then animated in Adobe After Effects. The main title and a section title template. The section title came first, as I had the logo already created and I wanted to see what I would do with the shapes in an environment where I didn’t have to worry about ending with the logo. I was heavily inspired by the original Yo Noid logo and overall 80s aesthetic when designing and animating the logo. I knew I wanted a lot of clean, fluid motion and I delivered. Both the main title and section title have a fun and silly feeling to them that connects with the Noid. I am extremely pleased with the end results.

Just like with the last video, I created the poster very early on in production. I almost used it as a brainstorming tool, with the very early drafts drawn up. It was only as the composition for the poster came together that I knew I wanted to contrast it with the thumbnail. The poster would be very modern and take inspiration from current-day Domino’s Pizza design. The thumbnail would fit more along with the video, using my modern take on the old Yo Noid logo. Since it was a YouTube video, I added some extra details in the form of Polaroids featuring topics from the video to entice people in. Overall, I am very pleased with how clean these compositions came out. Beautiful images to compliment the beautiful video they were made for.
